A violent security incident occurred in a commercial establishment located on Olavarría Street at 3200, in the Güemes shopping center area. An armed robber entered the business, threatened an employee, and fled with cash. However, he was arrested a few blocks away after a chase involving local residents, as reported by the Argentine News Agency, which accessed the video. According to sources familiar with the case, the incident occurred when a 42-year-old man entered the business with a firearm and subdued the victim, a 20-year-old woman. Several people managed to intercept him near the intersections of Avellaneda and Alvear avenues. Images obtained by the 0223 media outlet show the moment the group successfully subdued the suspect, who was lying on the ground while being surrounded by neighbors. Minutes later, officers from the Ninth Police Station and the Patrol Command arrived at the scene following a 911 call. Under threat, the robber forced the employee to go to the bathroom, where he locked her in to act with greater freedom, reported the 0223 website. The criminal then forced open the cash register and stole the day's proceeds before fleeing. The incident did not go unnoticed. A relative of the employee, alerted to what had happened, initiated a pursuit that quickly drew other passersby in the area. They carried out the arrest of the suspect and managed to recover the stolen money. The case is now in the hands of the UFIJE No. 14, under the direction of Prosecutor Fernando Berlingeri, who ordered the necessary procedures, the restitution of the money to the victim, and the transfer of the accused to Penal Unit No. 44. This case once again highlights the immediate reaction of residents to security incidents, in a context where citizen intervention was crucial for the swift apprehension of the suspect.
